What is Religious Science?

Religious Science presents a practical, down-to-earth way of thinking about the nature of the Universe and our relationship to it. Religious Science Churches offer definite, practical methods for creating positive life changes.  As a religion, the philosophy is both mentally stimulating and emotionally satisfying. As a science, it presents specific, definite ideas which you can and use to experience benefits in your life.  

Religious Science was founded in 1926 by Dr. Ernest Holmes. It is a New Thought spiritual philosophy as old as humanity itself and popularized during the Transcendentalist movement of the late 1800's. Ernest Holmes who coined the expression "Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life." is one of the most famous New Thought writers.  His book, Science of Mind is the foundational text for Religious Scientists.  Holmes presents the correlation of the laws of science, opinions of philosophy and revelations of religion.  The teachings are called the Science of Mind.

Each Science of Mind Center, provides a supportive and nurturing environment for learning about these teachings.  Sunday Services, Science of Mind classes, seminars and individual counseling provide opportunities to discover truths about yourself and the Spiritual Universe of which you are a part.  You have the power to choose where you focus your thoughts, your energy and your attention.  You choose which emotions will control your heart and mind.  What you choose to focus on shapes your life.  McHenry County Church of Religious Science teaches techniques such as affirmative prayer, meditation and the law of attraction
